About Anna
As a former shift worker, I understand the unsociable and unpredictable challenges of your unique work-life balance. I know how that feels and how it can impact your health. But I also know there are solutions.
As a former shift worker, I understand the unsociable and unpredictable challenges of your unique work-life balance. I know how that feels and how it can impact your health. But I also know there are solutions.
Shift work changes everything – your sleep, your appetite, your energy, your mood, and the way your body processes food.
I help shift workers and organisations understand how nutrition and circadian rhythms interact, and how small, realistic changes can make a meaningful difference to fatigue, performance and long-term health.
Having worked in the emergency services myself, I understand what it’s like to eat around unpredictable shifts, long hours, night work, and limited access to proper food. You’re often just trying to get through the shift, not optimise your biology.
So that lived experience shapes the way I work today.
My specialist focus is shift worker nutrition and chrono-nutrition, that is how meal timing, food choices and circadian biology affect:-
• Energy and fatigue across shifts
• Sleep quality and recovery
• Mood and mental clarity
• Digestive health
• Long-term metabolic health
It’s not about strict rules or cutting out all the foods you enjoy.
It’s about understanding how to work with your body clock where possible, and making practical food choices that support you through demanding schedules.
As a result, small changes in timing, composition and routine can make a real difference to how you feel across a shift pattern.
Transport & Professional Driving
I provide consultancy work within the transport sector, where long hours, sedentary work and irregular schedules can make healthy eating difficult to prioritise.
I am a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety, Bus Centre of Excellence and Association of Road Risk Management, where I raise awareness of how nutrition and fatigue interact with driver safety, alertness and performance.
Because food and drink choices matter, especially when alertness behind the wheel is critical.
Emergency Services & Blue Light Organisations
I have extensive experience working with emergency services staff, helping them understand the link between nutrition, fatigue and performance.
As part of the National Police Wellbeing Service (Oscar Kilo) OK Life programme, I developed a Nutrition for Wellbeing Programme for all UK officers and staff (https://www.oscarkilo.org.uk/services/ok-life/nutrition-wellbeing).
I’ve also worked with the Royal College of Paramedics and UK Fire and Rescue Services supporting staff with fatigue, energy and recovery in operational roles.
Private Practice
I work 1:1 with clients online and in person.
My clients are often shift workers who want to:
My work is about helping you make food and timing work better within the reality of shift life, so you can feel more energised, more resilient, and more in control of your health.
During my time in the emergency services, I lived the reality of shift work; irregular meal patterns, convenience food on the go, eating at night, and relying on whatever was available.
Like many shift workers, I expected performance to stay high regardless of fuel, sleep or timing.
However, over time, I saw how closely connected food, circadian rhythm and fatigue really are.
That’s what led me into nutritional therapy, and into specialising in how shift work impacts the body, and what can be done to reduce its toll.
And today, I combine professional training with lived experience to help people feel more energised, more in control of their eating, and less run down by their schedules.
I am a member of:-
The British Association of Nutritional Therapy and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT)
The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
These ensure my practice is evidence-informed, accountable and aligned with professional standards.
